Project Statement:

Shards of Memory

Monika Janicka’s project Shards of Memory is based on current world events. Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022, marking a steep escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War which had begun in 2014. The invasion has caused Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II with more than six million Ukrainians leaving the country and a quarter of the population displaced.

Monika Janicka’s work has a broad range which aims to capture the authenticity, intimacy, attitude and sense of excitement of human being through experimental and artistic interpretations.
